MINDFULNESS AND MEDITATION
"Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way; on purpose, in the present moment". Jon Kabat-Zinn
Also see below for my next monthly Mindfulness Drop In group which is free to those trying it as a taster.
As an experienced meditator of nearly 30 years and having been trained with the British Mindfulness Academy to teach mindfulness practices, I can either offer mindfulness training as part of your talking therapy or on its own. I offer individual and group sessions (see below for courses).
What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is a scientifically-proven technique for managing your thought processes. It is not complicated. It's your mind's natural resting place. The skills of mindfulness enable you to begin to choose where and on what you focus your attention. It's a way to come back to your calm and empowered state. In our busy stress-filled, action-orientated lives our minds speed up to keep apace with the pressure that we put ourselves under. We can often end the day feeling exhausted, depleted in energy, frustrated at not achieving more and self critical for not being on top of all our tasks. And there never appears to be quiet, calm time for us to wind down and recharge.
How can it help me?
Mindfulness practices help you to find a pathway through the chaos of modern day living. It provides strategies to:
Once you have learnt the skills of mindfulness, you can use the same centring sensations that you cultivate in the sessions, anywhere. And the results last a lifetime.
What Mindfulness is not
Mindfulness is not a religion. It is not a philosophy or lifestyle. It is simply a tool, one that is accessible to people of all ages, cultures, religions and those who are not religious.
Fees
If you would like to learn mindfulness or meditation skills as part of your talking therapy then the fees that I charge for these sessions will apply. Refer to my webpage Making an Appointment and Fees.
Individual Mindfulness Training:
I offer individual mindfulness sessions in an 8 session block. The timing of this block can have some flexibility. It doesn't need to be weekly and can fit round your commitments and availabilith. The sessions are 50 minutes and I charge £350 for the 8 week block (£43.75 per session). Half (£175) is payable at the first session, and the balance of £175 at the fifth session.
If you have done one of my day workshops or courses or have done mindfulness training with someone else, and you want a one-off or ad hoc session(s) to refresh your skills and/or talk through your practice, I’m happy to offer these meetings at £45 for a 50 minute session.
MINDFULNESS SATURDAY WORKSHOPS AT WITNEY THERAPY CENTRE, CORN STREET, WITNEY
Mindful Self-Compassion Part 1 and 2
These two workshops stand alone. If you want to do both, it is best to have done Part 1 first (in 2019 I ran it as a one-off Self-Compassion Workshop) . This is the first year I’m running a Part 2 Workshop and it goes deeper into the concept of mindful self-compassion. However, if you’ve not done my Self Compassion workshop in 2019 and can't do the autumn Part 1 workshop, Part 2 is suitable if you have completed the Mindfulness Skills 8 week course (either with me or another organisation) or for anyone who has done mindfulness before and has some experience of Mindful Self-Compassion. If you’ve not covered any Mindful Self-Compassion, you will still get value from just doing Part 2, although I will not be covering the basics of Self-Compassion (which is covered in Part 1). Please contact me if you want to talk this through 07899 891992.
