"Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way; on purpose, in the present moment". Jon Kabat-Zinn

As an experienced meditator of nearly 30 years and having been trained with the British Mindfulness Institute to teach mindfulness practices, I can either offer mindfulness training as part of your talking therapy or on its own. I offer individual and group sessions (see below for courses).

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a scientifically-proven technique for managing your thought processes. It is not complicated. It's your mind's natural resting place. The skills of mindfulness enable you to begin to choose where and on what you focus your attention. It's a way to come back to your calm and empowered state. In our busy stress-filled, action-orientated lives our minds speed up to keep apace with the pressure that we put ourselves under. We can often end the day feeling exhausted, depleted in energy, frustrated at not achieving more and self critical for not being on top of all our tasks. And there never appears to be quiet, calm time for us to wind down and recharge.

How can it help me?

Mindfulness practices help you to find a pathway through the chaos of modern day living. It provides strategies to:

  • calm the mind, thereby achieving greater clarity and focus
  • improve your decision-making skills
  • experience peace of heart and learn to listen to your intuition, the wisdom within
  • still the body
  • expand the soul and connect to your sense of who you truly are at your core
  • connect to your creativity
  • improve your sleep
  • boost your immune system
  • achieve a more positive state of mind
  • enhance your confidence
  • alleviate tension, stress, illness and physical pain
  • help you manage your addictions
  • decrease anxiety, depression, trauma and panic attacks
  • interact and connect better with others
  • manage conflict more effectively
  • increase your productivity

  • Once you have learnt the skills of mindfulness, you can use the same centring sensations that you cultivate in the sessions, anywhere. And the results last a lifetime.

"The human mind can create conflict. It can also create peace. To find peace in the world we must find peace in ourselves. There is no higher happiness than peace." Buddha

    What Mindfulness is not

Mindfulness is not a religion. It is not a philosophy or lifestyle. It is simply a tool, one that is accessible to people of all ages, cultures, religions and those who are not religious.

If you would like to learn mindfulness or meditation skills as part of your talking therapy or life coaching then the fees that I charge for these sessions will apply. Refer to my webpage Making an Appointment and Fees.

I offer individual mindfulness sessions in an 8 session block. The timing of this block can have some flexibility. It doesn't need to be strictly weekly. These are of 40 minutes duration and I charge £240 for the 8 week block (£30 per session).

    Mindfulness Courses and Groups

I also run small groups of 6 participants teaching mindfulness skills. The next 8 week course starts on Tuesday 15th January 2019 and finishes on 12th March with a week's break on 12th February. It runs from 3 - 5pm at the Witney Therapy Centre, 2a Corn Street, Witney, OX28 6BL.

The cost is £275. A deposit of £75 will secure your place and the balance is payable by 7th January. Instalments can be negotiated.

I will be running the next course, with a focus on compassion, loving-kindness and forgiveness in May 2019. Further information to follow.

There is also a Drop In Mindfulness group for those who have completed one of my courses or who have practiced or trained elsewhere, as a way of maintaining and refreshing your skills. The Drop In group will be payable on attendance at £20 per session. This is a monthly group running on Wednesdays from 1.45 to 3pm and the dates for the first half of this year are: 16 January, 13 February, 13 March, 10 April, 8 May and 5 June.
